Katowice is the capital of Silesia Voivodeship and it is the largest city in the Upper Silesian Industrial Area. It has a population of 354,000 inhabitants, with urban area of approximately 2,700,000 inhabitants and 5,294,000 inhabitants in the metropolitan area. According to the Poles, who I thought would know best, it is the ugliest city in Poland. Whenever I told anyone I had been there, they said, "What for? There is nothing to see." I have to agree with them. It is a fairly industrial city with little to do but go to shops and restaurants which actually aren't bad, plus it has an airport
With low cost flights which was the main reason for our visit.
