Exquisite Nepalese food
After a long walk through Kensington Gardens, Hyde Park and Harrods, we decided to take a break in the Battersea area. It's rather nice neighborhood, maybe a little less nice than the beautiful white facades of Notting hill, but the old brick gave a nice retro touch. But I'm not here to talk about architecture. One good thing about London is that there is a seemingly endless supply of good restaurants to discover. In our case, we found Kathmandu Nepalese Restaurant in Lavender Hill. We had a look at the menu and my stomach immediately started growling. The decoration was alright if a bit plain, but we were greeted by a waitress with a radiant smile and a warm "welcome!".
We sat down and looked at a menu full of exotic names like Momo, Napa Chana, BHU, Duru Jaa, or Juju Dhau, each one thankfully explained in English on the menu.I got Laa Chatamari, which is a sort of lightly-spiced Nepalese pancake served with crispy and juicy slices of savory chicken. Next, we got the Duqu Yu Laa, which was a lamb dish cooked with a lot of herbs and spices. Frankly, the dish was a feast for the eyes and the smell was intoxicating. The ever-so-slightly spicy lamb literally melted in your mouth. We also got an order of Kesari Yu Jaa which is saffron basmati rice.
The service was really friendly and they never tried to rush us. The prices were fair and the value for the money was excellent. All in all, exquisite food, friendly service, and a great place if you're looking for something a little different in London.
