Worth a visit
This beautiful building is so much more than just one of the best restaurants in Helsinki. It couldn't have a better location, a few metres from the Market Square. It's popular with Finnish people for lunch and dinner, and no wonder, because it seems like a little palace, with a classical facade and a wide terrace. It has an extensive menu, and you can choose from many different types of dishes, including many traditional Finnish options.
The service is also very good. It has a bar area, where you can have a drink at night while listening to jazz, a room for private dining, and an outdoor terrace which is very spacious and pleasant in warm weather.
In terms of prices, it's quite fair - I had grilled chicken with goat's cheese, balsamic vinegar, seasonal vegetables and tomato sauce. It looked more like a work of art than a plate of food; I didn't know where to start to dismantle it all. It cost 20 euros. Founded in 1867, a restaurant like this, with so much history behind it, is definitely worth a visit.
