Chapel Bridge (Kapellbrucke)

Along with the lake, the bridge is certainly the best known image of the city and it's beauty and history are logical. It was built in the thirteenth century in wood and diagonally crosses the river that forms the popular Lake Lucerne. Inside it had beautiful paintings of great artistic value but, unfortunately, in the 90s it was engulfed by fire that destroyed part of it, though some paintings were saved. Today, the bridge we see is a reconstruction, but still, it's gorgeous. At sunset and on sunny days it has a spectacular color.

This is one of the most well-known, famous places in Lucerne. This bridge was built in the first half of the 14th century as part of the city's fortifications. Inside there are paintings that were added in the 17th century, as well as illustrations of Switzerland's local history, including biographies of Leodegar and Mauritius (the patron saints of the city).
