Japan Society Gallery

2 reviews of Japan Society Gallery

Worth a visit

The Japan Society is an organization that aims to bring Japanese culture to the United States with exhibitions, lectures, classes and performances by Japanese artists. The exhibits include both modern and ancient Japanese art, and there are talks on subjects ranging from manga and anime to food and fashion. They also have parties and sake tasting. It may not be one of the "musts" for many New York tourists, but it's still worth a visit!

Very popular

Graphic Heroes, Magic Monsters : Japanese Prints by Utagawa Kuniyoshi from the Arthur R. Miller Collection, was the surprise smash hit of the season. The exhibition has been organized by the Royal Academy in collaboration with Arthur R. Miller and the British Museum. The vast majority of the 150 color woodcuts on display are from the Arthur R. Miller Collection (New York), generously on loan by Japan for the Society of American Friends of the British Museum.
