Jan Van Eyck Restaurant
In an area that's more free of crowded "foreigner" tourism that plagues the city of Bruges no matter the season, this is a quiet little square in front of a canal that pleasantly surprised us when we were looking for a place to grab lunch, or some dishes without having to pay 40 € on average per person, which is the average asking price in this city. Jan Van Eyck Restaurant, which takes its name from the charming plaza, is a small but very quiet restaurant that offers a two-course menu for € 12.50, without drinks or dessert, but ve wants to get dessert there with all this country's bakeries and tea rooms.
Two first plates, you choose from the soup of the day (carrot and chicken in our case, very good), or two second plates, which are salad and a meat dish. I recommend doing the second, the meat was delicious, but the taste was incomparable with Spanish meats. The service is very good, they speak English, French or Belgian. With drinks, we ended up eating for 15 € per person.
