2 reviews of James Gordon Bennett Memorial

A romantic monument

Located in New York, in a small, triangular part of the Heraldo Square on 6th Avenue, the James Gordon Bennetti Monument consists of three statues and a bell, made of bronze and pink granite, and carved by Antonin Jean Paul Carles. With a mixture of flowers and birds, it's a romantic monument, and the statues move to beat the bell every hour. You'll often see people waiting to watch the "blacksmiths" hit the bell. A stunning spectacle.

A nice place

Excellent

Not far from the Empire State Building and the Public Library, we stumbled onto the statue of James Gordon Bennett (the creator of the famous New York Herald newspaper) which gives its name to the park where it is located. A nice place to go for a break.
