La isla de Gorgulho es un pequeño peñasco ubicado en la costa de Funchal. Se trata de una escarpada islilla de unos 15 metros de altura y 60 metros cuadrados de superficie, vamos, una roca al comienzo del océano Atlántico. Con todo, te será imposible no fijarte en ella si caminas junto al paseo marítimo de la capital de Madeira o promenade Do Lido, y especialmente si entras al pequeño fuerte que lleva el mismo nombre (la 'casetita' blanca con vistas al mar).
No, no podrás subirte a la isla de Gorgulho pero, si lo deseas, podrás nadar a su alrededor. La profundad de la cara que da hacia la costa es de 14 metros, de 17 si estás en la parte del océano. Ahora, para mayor seguridad, mejor entrar al agua por el Balneario Do Lido que, probablemente, sea por donde tengas que hacerlo quieras o no (también puedes probar suerte por la playuca que hay un poco más adelante).
