Irukina
Japanese restaurant with complimentary tea and biscuit
In the lovely town of Shirakawa-go there are many restaurants to try the local food, especially famous for beef of Hida-Takayama although there are veggies, miso and mushrooms. This restaurant is called "irori" which means Japanese fireplace. It is Western-style, but there is a hole in the middle of the room for a kitchen. It has an "irori" and although they do not cook on it, it is on. The environment is great. They also have an English menu for those who can not read Japanese. You can order many Japanese dishes (like soba, which is also typical of the area) and I chose a menu of meat with miso Hida-Takayama, absolutely tasty and for the low price of 1800 yen.
