Iona Abbey

Excellent

The abbey now is a reconstruction of what St.Columba started building years ago when he arrived to the island (563 AD). It is a holy Christian spot in the UK. Where there were literary marvels like "The Book of Kells" which is currently in the possession of Trinity College in Dublin. Upon arrival, we met with two crosses, Celtic and Christian at the same time. The most traditional is San Martin, with engravings of the Bible and against holy sepulcher St. Columba we find the cross of San Juan, with engraved Celtic. The interior is impressive, the cloister, curious, with a strange sculpture in the center by a Jewish artist commissioned by the Church of England and funded by the Roman Catholic Church, symbolizing the unity of all religions in that place, which ultimately to that end was rebuilt.

Some of the Scottish kings, including macbeth, wanted to be buried here. In current times in this abbey and its surroundings, you can breathe peacefully which is hard to find in many religious places, including the Vatican.
