Institut de Studis Catalans

L'Istituto degli Studi Catalani è un istituto che si occupa dello studio, conservazione e trasmissione di tutti i caratteri ereditari della cultura catalana, che fortemente impregna la città di Barcellona. Questo istituto include la biblioteca catalana, la scuola industriale e delle belle arti, e un centro di ricerca matematica. L'edifico barocco che ospita l'istituto fu costruito fra il 1629 e il 1680 adiacente all'ospedale di Santa Creu e al collegio di chirurgia che ospita ancora al suo interno un antico anfiteatro e un tavolo marmoreo per le operazioni chirurgiche. E' caratterizzato dallo stile lineare e raffinato del XVII sec. Con un chiostro interno caratterizzato da arcate a tutto sesto lungo tutto il perimetro, decorazioni sulle pareti e una statua al centro del cortile.
