An educational, free, non-touristy activity in Southern California!
The Inland Empire Utilities Agency is a great facility to visit if you're curious about how a Southern California utilities agency recycles a combined total 52 million gallons of water per day over four facilities. Free tours are offered to the public, whether you're from the United States or another country. Visitors will get to see each stage of the water treatment process up close, and the guides are open to any questions. Also on the facility's property is an educational wetlands park where you can take a nice nature walk and learn more about water conservation via informational boards. The park uses recycled water from the agency and has a place where kids can examine water samples under a microscope.
