Construction of the Inca canal was a measure of wit and capacity to undertake the monumental work of the Incas. It's called Cumbemayo Canal and it flows down from 3600 metres on the hills of Cumbe, 7 kilometres to Cajamarca at 2700 meters. It's a gently sloping canal, dug in some sections into volcanic rock. Sometimes it travels through tunnels and bends in a zigzag to lessen the speed of the current.
