Beautiful Views
You must talk with the Tourist Office in order to be able to visit the tower. It has an important historical value but most of all it offers amazing views from the top: the entire Mediterranean just for you.
It is without a doubt the icon of El Campello: it watches over the beaches and it is more beautiful every day. I remember when it was deteriorated, but today it shines by day and night. In front of it there are some rocks where you can stroll along the sea, observing the marine vegetation, which is very curious. The tower is illuminated by night and the light mixes with the different red tones of the Mediterranean sunset of Alicante.
La Torre de la Illeta is the emblem of El Campello. It’s a tower built in the 16th century whose original purpose was to warn the locals of attacks by Berber pirates.
You can visit and go up to the terrace (as long as you let the local tourist office know in advance). It’s worth the visit and the views there are truly spectacular!
