Ilha do Mantimento

Uma das ilhas mais curiosas da Baía de Paraty, a Ilha do mantimento tem uma rica história e locação cheia de fatos inusitados. Logo de longe, a Ilha do Mantimento chama a atenção pela construção que existe na mesma. Será que é isso mesmo? Estou vendo um castelo? Como uma construção destas foi feita em uma ilha? A construção deste pequeno castelo fez da ilha uma das mais caras do Brasil. A história da ilha começa a se escrever durante o período colonial, na era do ouro, muitas caravelas não conseguiam chegar até o porto de Paraty, então, atracavam na ilha que funcionava como um entreposto, no qual as mercadorias eram trocadas na mesma, daí o nome, Ilha do Mantimento (como era posto de passagem de riquezas, era natural o ataque de piratas, portanto existia uma fortificação para a proteção das trocas). Portanto, a história da ilha se confunde com uma época da nossa história, de quando nosso ouro saía para financiar a empreitada de países europeus (leia-se Inglaterra). Com o passar do tempo e decadência dos veios auríferos, a ilha ficaria esquecida, e sua fortificação abandonada. Foi quando no fim do século XX, um milionário brasileiro comprou a concessão da ilha e remodelou a construção, fazendo dela cum castelo com direito a piscina de vidro com vista para o mar e tudo. Não é possível entrar na ilha sem autorização, mas seu entorno é visitado por escunas que realizam passeios, sendo possível fazer mergulhos e observar a curiosa fauna local (para uma ilha).
