Il Cenotafio

Nonostante sia poco accattivante esteticamente questo monumento, detto cenotafio o monumento sepolcrale, rappresenta uno dei principali memoriali della guerra della città di Londra. Disegnato da Sir Edwin Lutyens nel 1919 era originariamente in legno, mentre oggi è in pietra e porta tre bandiere: la classica "union flag" o bandiera inglese, la bandiera navale inglese (white ensign) e la bandiera delle navi mercantili (red ensign). Si trova a Whitehall, la principale via dove sono collocati gli edifici governativi e i monumenti commemorativi principali.

Despite being just aesthetically appealing this monument, said cenotaph or tomb, is one of the main war memorials of the city of London. Designed by Sir Edwin Lutyens in 1919 was originally made of wood, while today in stone and has three flags: the classic "union flag" or the British flag, the British naval flag (white ensign) and flag merchant vessels (red ensign). It is located in Whitehall, the main street where are located the main government buildings and memorials.
