Worth a visit
Ikawamaru isn't a classic izakaya restaurant. In this wooden-furnished restaurant, the specialty is fresh fish, served in a thousand different ways and washed down with beer or sake. I recommend the excellent and not too expensive mixed sashimi, with scallops grilled by the customers themselves on tabletop stove. The menu is in Japanese, but if you're feeling lost, the trick is to ask for "susume kudasai", the specialty. Definitely recommended, five minutes from Shijo subway station.
