Santa María church
Santa Maria Church, located in the square with the same name, is the center of Obidos. Surrounded by narrow, winding streets, it is the most important church in the village. Inside, King Alfonso V, married his cousin Isabel back in 1441. The highlights of the church include the Renaissance tomb and an altar in the chancel of Josefa de Obidos , where the mystic Marriage of St. Catherine is described. The walls are covered with blue and white tiles, typical in portuguese churches, which are mixed with gold in the high altar. The rest of the temple is not particularly interesting. Opening hours are
