Temple of the Third Order
Todays' religious buildings in Campeche are mainly due to the Franciscans who arrived in the mid sixteenth century on an evangelizing mission. They founded the San Francisco Temple but left it in ruins as it was outside the city walls, they decided to build a new church inside the walls and called it Templo de San Francisquito. Construction began in 1654 under the patronage of San Roque (so it's also known as the Hospice of San Roque). Its austere facade is topped by a belfry, though small in size it has a single nave, choir loft and houses 5 small carved wooden baroque altarpieces but the main altar stands out.
