Hvítserkur
Hvítserkur in northern Iceland, a curious geological formation formed by volcanic magma a few thousand years ago and then shaped by the wind. Legend has it that this rock is a troll paralyzed by the rays of the rising sun as he tried to destroy the Christian monastery of Thingeyrar. It is located in front of the sea in Húnaflói Bay on the Vatnsnes peninsula. Hvítserkur means "white shirt" and that name is due to the large amounts of bird droppings on the rocks. Access is from the parking area, walk down a trail to a viewpoint. Here is the starts of a small path that allows you to go down to the beach.
