Affordable and nice
During my time in Badajoz, I stayed at the 4-star Hotel Zurbaran, part of the Husa chain, on the banks of the Guadiana River, opposite the Bastion Saint Vincent and steps from the Puerta de Palmas. It is easily reached from the highway to the Ruta de la Plata, at the entrance to the city; from here, you could easily walk anywhere in the old town. Although the building doesn't look like much, the hotel inside was great, and was pretty well priced at 55 € for a double room (without breakfast).
The hotel is huge, with 213 rooms, a restaurant, cafe, nightclub, TV room, a huge lobby and conference room.
