Art museum highlighting Southern artists
The Huntsville Museum of Art is an exceptional art museum in the city of Huntsville, Alabama. The museum focuses primarily on regional and Southern artists, but also has interesting collections of African carvings, Asian prints, European artwork, and the largest collection of silver animal figurines in the world.
The collection at the Huntsville Museum of Art boasts big names in the 20th century American art world like Andy Warhol, Robert Rauschenberg, and Dale Chihuly, as well as painters who were born in or lived in the state of Alabama like Richmond Burton or Stephen Rolfe Powell. The museum has also recently added a great exhibit of Southern photography to its permanent collection.
