The Single Most Amazing Place I've Ever Stayed

Hotel Vyvant is hands down the most wonderful place I have ever stayed throughout my travels - and I have stayed in a LOT of places. It is not the biggest, the fanciest, or the most extravagant place I have ever stayed, but it beats out all the rest because of its authenticity, charm, friendliness, comfort and location. This hotel used to be a large house, and has since been developed into a small Bed and Breakfast style establishment that features single rooms with shared washrooms, private rooms with private washrooms, and apartment-style accommodations as well. The décor has a very vintage and homey feel to it, it is positively adorable and made me feel like I was staying in someone's home rather than in a hotel.

The staff are second to none…I did not have one interaction while I was there that was anything less than spectacular. They were knowledgeable, friendly, helpful, and genuinely interested in chatting with me and getting to know me. I felt incredibly safe as a solo female traveler, the beds were comfortable, amenities adequate and the entire establishment was very clean. Hotel Vyvant is within walking distance to literally everything but Sea World. Balboa park, countless museums and the San Diego Zoo are 30 minutes away, Old Town is about 40 minutes away, The Gaslamp Quarter is 20 minutes away, the harbor is 10 minutes away, and the hotel itself is nestled right in the heart of Little Italy…which I personally never even wanted to leave. If you don't feel like walking those distances, the San Diego MTS bus and trolley system is easy to use, and there are many cabs available as well. The hotel also provides complimentary happy hour on Fridays and Saturdays, including beer, wine and appies. Every morning, there is an included breakfast available which features local fresh-baked pastries, fruit, yogurt, granola, and a selection of coffee, teas, and juice. Hotel Vyvant is the most hospitable place I have ever stayed, and I recommend it 100%. I know I'll be back!
