A lovely view
Let's face it: cost of living in Amsterdam is very high, compared with southern Europe. The amount that you'd pay for a good 3 star hotel in another city will barely get you the most basic room here. But if you have money to spare, and don't want to stay in a hostel, the Hotel Van Onna can be a good choice. It has plenty of plus points: the rooms are very clean, the view is nothing less than lovely (many of the rooms directly overlook Bloemgracht, undoubtedly one of the most beautiful canals in the city), it's in a beautiful old seventeenth-century house, the price includes breakfast (which is rare in hotels of this price), which is good and plentiful.
