Cozy, affordable hostel in Central California
Hostel Obispo is an affordable and cozy choice for accommodation when traveling along California’s Central Coast. It’s a small hostel (I believe there are eight rooms) with clean dorms and private rooms, and an intimate setting. (Note: I stayed in a private room that was smaller than I’m used to – just a few feet of space on the sides of the bed and maybe two feet of space at the foot of the bed. Just a note for those who may desire more space.)
Bathrooms are also decent, although there are other places with cleaner ones. Still, no big complaints about that. Pancakes, tea and coffee for breakfast are included, so that’s pretty nice.
Hostel Obispo is nestled in a residential area that’s within walking distance to the Amtrak station, some small parks and the downtown area. There are a few parking spots in the back for those who end up driving, as well as abundant street parking. (Just read the signs for street cleaning and other restrictions.) The staff is also very helpful and the owner is nice as well! Highly recommended. I would absolutely stay here again if I make my way up the coast in the future.
