El Viajero
A different accommodation
A luxurious hotel in the centre of Granada. While the locals offer is essentially based on renovated historical buildings turned into hotels, the Palacio de los Patos (Duck Palace) is an avant-garde building offering an accommodation completely different from the rest.
To get to this the Hospes chain hotel you have to head to the centre. Passing by the front of the Cathedral, in the direction of the slope to the Alhambra, you must turn right choosing to go down. This splendid hotel is located in front of Plaza del Carmen, the square of the town hall. It has a parking lot in its large fenced garden, as well as an interior garage.
Its conception is surprising: it was already cutting edge when it was built at the beginning of the century. It corresponds to a style known as iron and crystal architecture, mainly dedicated to industrial functions. In this building there is a reception, as well as common rooms. Next to it a building of avant-garde style was built, complete with 47 rooms. They are really modern, with parquet flooring and crystal walls with views to the gardens.
Of course, it has all the facilities expected of a five star hotel, meaning it’s only right that the two main services be highlighted: the restaurant and the spa. The latter has a spectacular design, adapted to a demanding public used to high standards. In this spa the service based on essences stands out the most.
The restaurant is one of the most important in Andalusia. It is based on seasonal produce mixing sea and land flavours with original presentations. More than creative, it is an avant-garde cuisine. It must be said that the price is indeed in line with the sublime luxury of this hotel located so perfectly. It is right in the centre, at the feet of the Alhambra and facing the Cathedral and the Alcaicería. The night costs between 150 and 200€.
