"Soul Food at its Best"
So, a lot of visitors don't take the time to visit Oakland, which is somewhat (but not entirely) understandable, but it's worth taking the trip just to eat at the Home of Chicken and Waffles. Fried chicken and waffles sounds like an odd combination, but it ain't, it's delicious. Plus, the place is awesome and looks like it hasn't changed since the 1970's. I'd recommend getting the "Keith's Tackle", which comes with 2 crispy fried wings, some perfect mac and cheese, and a nice fat waffles with a huge dollop of butter and syrup.
Perfect. Plus, they have absurd drink specials, like $2 martinis, most nights of the week. Grab the BART to 12th St. / Oakland City Center and pig out!
