Holy Spirit Chapel
Holy Spirit Chapel is in the middle of the central Av Visconte Guedes Teixeira, at the height of the Monument to the Unknown Soldier. It was built by Bishop Manuel de Noronha in the sixteenth century (his crest is inside). It's a small church but houses on the main altar one of the treasures of Portugal: An eighteenth-century sculpture of the Holy Spirit but the author is unknown. On both sides there are two Baroque altarpieces, with particular emphasis on the Gospel side. Also my attention was drawn to the pulpit, carved gilt and with XVII tiles lining the walls.
