Hispanic Society of America

2 reviews of Hispanic Society of America

A jewel of Spanish culture

I am a Native New Yorker now living in BCN. During a recent trip home I visited this wonderful place (the Hispanic Society of America) that was full of Spanish culture, treasures and delights. The building is located in upper Manhattan, which is worth a visit for those who want to escape the tourist crowds and see a part of the "real" NYC. The Hispanic Society of America is right next the the Trinity Uptown Cemetery, which is also a historical gem.

The Society has a collection of Goya, Velazquez and El Grecos, which are all priceless. The famous painting "Duchess of Alba" by Goya is hanging there and you can see it and the other artworks in a way that is not possible in any museum.
