Hermitage of Santa Ana

La ermita de Santa Ana es uno de los lugares de Chiclana que más me ha sorprendido. Pensaba que iba a ser una ermita o templo religioso sin más, otro más del montón que existen en esta región gaditana donde el fervor y las tradiciones religiosas tienen vital importancia. Pues no, la Ermita construída por el arquitecto gaditano Torcuato Cayón de la Vega en honor a Santa Ana no es un simple templo religioso que alberga una preciosa estatua de Santa Ana con la Virgen Niña en brazos, figura religiosa a la que acuden a rezar numeros@s chiclane@s, sino que además es un excelente mirador que sirve para admirar desde la colina de mismo nombre que la ermita, la pureza y blancura que envuelven a esta grande y bella localidad gaditana. El acceso más habitual a la vez que bonito a la ermita se realiza desde la calle Agustín Blázquez, justo en la acera de en frente donde termina el Parque de Santa Ana. Desde allí parte un empinado camino que en cosa de dos minutos nos planta en el mirador situado junto a la preciosa Ermita de Santa Ana. La ermita es muy pequeña pero destacan por fuera su planta octogonal, su grada y columnas exteriores, y sobre todo, la enorme bóveda que recuerda a edificios bizantinos o templos ortodoxos de Turquía. El interior es realmente pequeño, habiendo sólo tres/cuatro filas de bancos situados en frente del altar que muestra la imagen de Santa Ana con la Virgen Niña en brazos. La Ermita constituye un excelente mirador desde el que además de Chiclana y sus monumentos, es posible admirar San Fernando, el Parque Natural de la Bahía de Cádiz, el castillo de Sancti Petri y pueblos más lejanos como Medina Sidonia. A lo largo del mirador, todos los lugares importantes que se pueden divisar desde aquí están debidamente señalizados con paneles informativos. Si acudes a Chiclana de la Frontera, la Ermita de Santa Ana es un precioso lugar de obligada visita que te ayudará a hacerte a la idea de lo grande que es la ciudad de Chiclana y de la espectacular panorámica que es posible contemplar desde lo alto de la Colina de Santa Ana. Por cierto, sólo es posible visitar el interior de la capilla los martes.
