The oldest religious building in the city
The Hermitage of San Quirze is the oldest religious building in Lloret de Mar. It's easy to find, just behind the modernist cemetery (another place worth visiting). The exact date of its construction is unknown, but this stylistic mishmash of a building is definitely older than the ninth century. Some say it was built in the time of Quirze, a Roman Christian general, while others attribute the construction to the time of Charlemagne. Several graves, pieces of Roman pottery, and a coin from the time of Constantine have been found here.
