A treat for all the senses in a town not touched by modern architecture
Known by many as the Venice of the North for its architecture as it is comprised of a group of randomly arranged islands separated by canals, Henningsvær is one of the most charming towns in the Lofoten Islands and from the 19th century one of its most important fishing ports. ,Heningsvær has not changed in recent years, and has more than 500 inhabitants. Henningsvær islands were not connected by bridges to the rest of Lofoten until the year 1981, a fact that probably saved the community from the influence of modern architectural style, it did leave its mark on other Norwegian towns during the 60s and 70s.
