Hall of the Mocarabes

1 review of Hall of the Mocarabes

An almost divine style

Excellent

The hall that served as entrance to the new Palacio de los Leones (Lions' Palace), named after the rich ornaments that decorate the walls and the ceilings, is a wonderful preview to what awaits us in this new palace.

The effect produced by the muqarnas (a type of corbel employed as a decorative device) is inexplicable; one does not know where this set of geometrical shapes comes from, sometimes with colours, sometimes white, that play with light and your senses. The impression of something ethereal, unreal, of a dreamlike vision that will eventually disappear and that what’s more, offer a changing reality depending how you move and how the light comes in.
