A glimpse of Mt Fuji
On arriving in Hakone, we caught the ferry across the Lake Ashi to the base of the Mt. Komagatake Ropeway. On the way, we passed a red torii gate that marks the spot where a powerful priest was able to chain a nine headed dragon to an underwater rock. The funicular took us to the summit of Komagatake at 1357m. At the top there is a tranquil mountain shrine and stunning views of the surrounding area; the sea in Sagami bay and the volcanic cone of Mount Fuji if you really keep your eyes peeled. Sadly we only had a short time here and now hope to return. Next time we will take our time staying in
