Gula-Gula Restaurant

The Gula Gula is difficult to define with one word only. Restaurant during the day and night club when the sun sets, it is a bit of a quick-change place, like most of the artists that have been entertaining the public of Madrid for 15 years: drag-queens, acrobats, jugglers, dancers, performers...

If you go to this place located in a Baroque building on Gran Vía number 1, you will be able to enjoy a buffet of good variety and cheap (7.50€ during the week, 12.50€ on weekends), which is already a good thing.

But at night, it changes completely! The waiters themselves are already a whole topic of conversation, each one of them wearing a different outfit. However, apart from the buffet (with warm dishes available, not included in the price), there is also a great show of more than an hour, with all types of physical performance, dancing or cabaret. There are different shows, we attended one called "Gurlesque"). The total price is 25€ (drinks and dessert not included), well-spent money.

The Gula Gula is one of the restaurants you must go to. It does not matter if you live in Madrid or if you just travel there. There is no drawback: the value, atmosphere and entertainment for the price are excellent.

Moreover, the background music is amazing. It is ideal to have good food in a multicultural place, where your race, religion, philosophy or whether you have one or not, do not matter. If you want to be impressed once again, you will go back and you will make your friends laugh and have a good time with showmen dressed as transvestites. They are the real stars because they do not disturb, they respect you and are very nice serving.
