1 review of Guadalupe - Lezo Walk

An easy walk

I'm going to suggest one of the many tours on Mount Jaizkibel. An easy walk of about 10 km to reach the town of Lezo. The route is very simple, even to do with children from 3 years old. With little incline, the trail is fairly wide and with a little attention there is no danger. First, we went to Guadalupe. To do this, once we were in Hondarribia, we saw Jaizkibel. We passed Jaizkibel camping and continued up a narrow winding road with beautiful views. Once we arrived at the hermitage, we parked in the parking lot on the right (just past the chapel). We walked to the canteen. If you look at the middle of the road there is a small tower, take the path that is right in front of you (the chapel is on the left and the right hand side bar).

We passed Forest House and continued on the path on the right, without turning off. You'll see different signs marking the Camino de Santiago. The route is very nice and the views are magnificent. You see the whole bay of Txingudi (Hendaye, Irun and Hondarribia) mountains between which the ever present Peñas de Aia is clearly visible by its 3 peaks, which can be seen from different points of the Basque country and Guipúzcoa. On weekends bear in mind that there are many people walking and mountain biking, if the sun shines don't forget a hat and sun cream because it hits hard. Luckily we found a fountain in the way to cool! Once in Lezo, I recommend visiting the Basilica del Santo Cristo, which houses an incredible figure of a Christ without a beard, one of only a few in the world. And incidentally get close to Pasai Donibane / Pasajes San Juan! One of the most charming places of Guipúzcoa.
