Griffith Park offers a variety of activities in a wide area stretching over the hills that border the city of Los Angeles. Griffith Observatory is a great place to enjoy views over the city and the famous white HOLLYWOOD sign, as well as offering a good a opportunity to learn about the solar system and the planets (admission is free, but you must pay for the planetarium). The park also includes a zoo, several hiking trails of varying difficulty, a golf course, a swimming pool that's open in summer, tennis courts, and of course, large areas to rest, have a picnic, or play.
