Taormina and Its Theatre

The town of Taormina on Mount Tauro has three treasures. Firstly, its architecture, which transports us to the Middle Ages. Secondly, the wonderful theater carved into the mountain and finally, the volcano of Mount Etna. Most day trips leave from Messina. It is not possible to take the car in the city. There are some parking spaces for buses and minibuses take visitors to the gates of the city. There are lovely shops and nice terraces across the main street of the city. The atmosphere is very quiet.

Bougainvillea everywhere

Walk down the main street of Taormina and, after passing the ancient entrance to the city - Porta de Messina - on the two blocks on the right you will find the remains of a Mythical Greco-Roman amphitheater. Great place there bougainvillea (santaritas) everywhere of different colors that provide life and color. As Taormina is on the top of Mount Taurus it is very high up. Even today, though its steps are well used as it holds concerts and outdoor performances. The view you get from there is magnificent, it is in a strategic point from which the Greeks, and then later the Romans, dominated Taormina

Moment in Taormina

In life, everything is a moment. Sicily is an interesting island very that actually has a lot of little places to go. I was very pleasantly surprised to find this theater, and to find out that I was in the territory of a lot of Greek theatres. and I think this is definitely one of the jewels of Sicily. It's located on Mount Taurus, and is a huge terrace to the Mediterranean. For a time it was the capital of the island, in the Byzantine period, and it's not surprising to see its beauty. The city doesn't waste it. The memories that come to mind when I think of Sicily are its excellent food (it's not for dieters) and its beautiful Mediterranean landscapes.
