Parigi non è solo arte antica, non è solo grandi viali dell'Ottocento o Torre Eiffel. Parigi è anche innovazione e quartieri più moderni come quello della Defense. Proprio qui è possibile ammirare e visitare l'innovativo e moderno arco di trionfo. Forse non tutti i turisti sono attratti da questa parte moderna della città ma merita davvero una visita, soprattutto quando si hanno tanti giorni da dedicare a Parigi. Si arriva direttamente con la metropolitana e quando si esce la prima cosa che si vede è questo grandissimo arco che sovrasta tutta quest'area moderna. Oltre all'arco ci sono tantissimi altri palazzi e grattacieli che caratterizzano questa zona. Non ci sono solo uffici ma anche tantissimi ristoranti e negozi, un vero e proprio centro commerciale dove poterci perdere le ore. Sull'arco di trionfo della Defense si può anche salire per ammirare il panorama. Una cosa bellissima che si può vedere anche senza salire sull'arco quando il giorno è limpido e senza foschia è l'arco di trionfo in lontananza che si interseca ancora più lontano con l'arco dei giardini de le Tuilerie.

J'avais un souvenir de la Grande Arche de la Défense comme un gros bloc gris et triste... Cela remonte à mon enfance... Telle ne fût pas ma surprise et mon émotion lorsque je me suis retrouvée il y a peu sous les lumières des tours (j'aurais même envie de dire gratte-ciel) de l'esplanade de la Défense. Alors oui quartier d'affaire, sièges sociaux de grands groupes industriels, autel de courses brèves entre le métro et le bureau, de chassés-croisés de costumes-cravates et tailleurs-jupes. Oui mais grandiose une fois que le tumulte de la journée est passé et que l'architecture inouïe des bâtiments prend vie sous les étoiles et les lumières artificielles... A voir absolument!

La Grande Arche pour le quartier de La Défense est un peu comme le Gherkin ("le cornichon", nom donné au Swiss Re Building) de La City de Londres. Il définit visuellement le quartier tout entier. C'est donc pourquoi nous sommes allés faire un tour dans ce quartier, afin de voir "la bête". Et cette arche ne s'appelle pas "Grande Arche" pour rien vu que ce mastodonte fait 112 mètres de long, 107 mètres de large, et pas moins de 110 mètres de haut ! De plus, c'est la première chose que l'on voit lorsqu'on sort de la station de métro, effet garantit !

Le quartier de la Défense je n'y étais jamais allé, je pensais que c'était un peu le Wall Street français et que ce n'était pas touristique. Au contraire, si vous y allez un jour où il n'y a pas de brouillard vous aurez une vue sympa sur Paris et vous pourrez profiter de la grandeur de l'arche. On peut y monter pour 10€/personne. Le soir l'arche est illuminé c'est très joli. Il y a aussi plein de boutiques dans ce quartier.

La Défense reste le quartier d'affaires que l'on connaît mais il est assez intéressant d'aller s'y balader en semaine, le midi (par beau temps) pour assister au balai des costards-cravates et autres tailleurs. Tout une vie apparaît à l'heure du repas. La grande Arche elle même est intéressante à voir et sous elle on a une vue superbe sur Paris et l'Arc de Triomphe.
