The Gulf of Padirac
The famous caver Édouard Alfred Martel discovered the gulf of Padirac and its river and explored 2400 metres of it. I've visited few stranger caves. With a huge cavity, it is necessary to use stairs or a lift to get to the topp, and the boat ride on the inside as it rains in the cave is just wonderful. The pit was formed after a collapse of the vault but no-one knows when this happened. It is a natural cavity of 75 metres which opens on the surface of the limestone plateau of Gramat Lot and below this there is an underground river. The ride starts 103 meters underground. After landing in the hall of Lac de la pluie, the visit continues through the Grands Gours room, the Room of the Grand Dôme, whose dome rises 94 meters high with its Lake Superior located 27 meters above the riverbed.
