Gîte Nataiwatch

Questo gîte rappresenta il tipo di struttura turistica ideale per soggiornare in Nuova Caledonia, rustico ma con un buon livello di servizi e confortevole, e soprattutto ben inserito nel contesto naturale. Si trova infatti all'interno di un bosco a circa 100 metri dalla bellissima baia di Kanumera, raggiungibile a piedi con un pittoresco sentierino. Offre tre tipi di sistemazione: camping, bungalow tradizionali in legno con cucina ma con servizi igienici in comune col campeggio, e bungalow più moderni in cemento, senza cucina ma con frigorifero e bagno privato; niente aria condizionata, ma la zona è ben ventilata. Con nostra grande sorpresa, abbiamo trovato anche un i-pad che ci ha permesso di connetterci ad internet e telefonare gratuitamente tramite skype. Il bungalow in cemento ha 3 posti letto suddivisi in due locali ed una bella ed ampia veranda. Alla reception la burbera ma gentile proprietaria è a disposizione per l'organizzazione di escursioni, noleggio bici e auto e per il transfer per l'aeroporto o il porto. Tutti questi servizi non sono proprio a buon mercato (esempio: 15 euro al giorno per il noleggio di una bicicletta...), ma poi abbiamo constatato che i prezzi erano allineati con le altre isole, la Nuova Caledonia è molto cara. Per i pasti, la prima colazione per noi era compresa nel prezzo, mentre il ristorante, aperto anche per il pranzo e la cena (indispensabile prenotare in anticipo qualche ora prima), propone un menu semplice ma gustoso, tra antipasti, piatti unici e dolci. Abbiamo sempre mangiato molto bene sotto la semplice veranda con i tavolini di plastica ed i piedi nella sabbia... cosa volere di più? Se dovessi mai tornare in vita mia in questo magico angolo di mondo, tornerei sicuramente al Nataiwatch!

This gîte is the kind of tourist place to stay in New Caledonia, rustic but with a good level of service and comfortable, and especially well with the surrounding natural environment. It is situated in a forest about 100 meters from the beautiful bay of Kanumera, within walking distance with a picturesque path. It offers three types of accommodation: camping, bungalows with traditional wooden kitchen but with shared facilities with camping, bungalows and more modern concrete, but without kitchen with refrigerator and private bathroom, no air conditioning, but the area is well ventilated. Much to our surprise, we also found an i-pad that has allowed us to connect to the internet and free phone calls via Skype. The concrete bungalows has 3 beds divided into two rooms and a beautiful, wide veranda. At the reception the gruff but gentle owner is available for the organization of excursions, bike and car rental, and for the transfer to the airport or port. All these services are not exactly cheap (example: 15 € per day for the rental of a bicycle ...), but then we found that the prices were in line with the other islands, New Caledonia is very expensive. For meals, the breakfast for us was included in the price, while the restaurant is also open for lunch and dinner (essential to book in advance a few hours before), offers a simple but tasty menu, including appetizers, main dishes and desserts . We always ate very well under the simple porch with plastic tables and feet in the sand ... what you want? If I'm ever back in my life in this magical corner of the world, would definitely stay at Nataiwatch!
