Giro sul carro col bufalo d'acqua

Il giro fra le viuzze dell'isola su un carro trainato da un bufalo d'acqua è una delle classiche attrazioni dell'isola di Taketomi. Il costo è di 1.200 yen per 30 minuti, con trasporto gratuito dal molo. Appena scesi dal traghetto cercate il minibus col cartello 水牛車 (si legge sugyuusha, carretto del bufalo d'acqua o water buffalo in inglese). La guida purtroppo parla solo in giapponese ed è un vero peccato perché racconta aneddoti, leggende e curiosità dell'isola. Tutti però possono apprezzare il giro fra le case e la canzone tradizionale che viene cantata durante il percorso, accompagnata da uno strumento a corda simile a una chitarra. Aspetto interessante, il lento bufalo non viene 'guidato', ma conosce la strada a memoria. Al punto di partenza del giro si può anche noleggiare una bicicletta per completare il tour dell'isola, particolarmente utile se non si pernotta.
