Gediminas Tower

La Torre di Gediminas, collocata in cima all' omonima collina e dietro alla cattedrale di Vilnius, è uno dei simboli nonchè uno dei più importanti monumenti della capitale lituana. Dalla cima della torre in mattoni rossi, a forma ottagonale, si può vedere tutta la città, visibilissimo il contrasto tra la città nuova e la città vecchia. La torre è facilmente raggiungibile con una comoda funicolare, o con un più suggestivo, ma ripido sentiero pedonale. La torre prende il nome dal primo grande Granduca di Lituania, ed ospita all'interno un importante museo, dove si possono vedere alcuni reperti mediovali, ed assistere a filmati sulla storia dell'indipendenza del paese. Si narra inoltre che all'interno della torre venne creato e stabilito il tricolore giallo-verde-rosso che tutt'oggi rappresenta la bandiera nazionale, che dal 1991, dopo l'indipendenza dall'Unione Sovietica svetta dalla collina nel gelido vento baltico. Sempre dalla Collina Gediminas sembra sia partita la famosa "Via Baltica", ovvero la catena umana fatta nell'agosto del 1989 che aprì all'indipendenza dei 3 paesi baltici, che per circa 600 km, unì Vilnius, Riga e Tallin nella protesta contro l'occupazione sovietica.

La Torre di Gediminas, in lituano Gedimino pilies bokštas, è uno dei monumenti più importanti della città di Vilnius. Posta in cima ad uno dei colli centrali della città vecchia, da cui una stupenda vista permette di scorgere i grattacieli della zona nuova in lontananza, la torre altro non è che ciò che rimane dell’antico castello rialzato di Vilnius. La prima fortificazione fu costruita, del tutto in legno, dal Gran Duca di Lituania, Gediminas, il più ricordato nella capitale lituana. Oggi è possibile percorrere a piedi diversi sentieri per raggiungere la cima del colle su cui, un tempo, era eretto il castello da cui il gran duca poteva osservare tutta la città, mentre per chi non vuole affrontare una salita ripida e preferisce la comodità, è possibile utilizzare una teleferica posta alle spalle del colle raggiungibile superando la piazza della cattedrale e percorrendo la via che affianca il Museo Nazionale Lituano di fronte a cui è presente una stupenda statua ritraente re Mindaugas. All’interno della torre è stato allestito un museo in ricordo della gloriosa storia della capitale: pagando una cifra molto economica (7 Litas, circa 2 Euro), è possibile accedere alle scalinate, scomodissime e ripidissime, che permettono di visionare i 3 piani della torre. I primi due piani presentano diverse reliquie come la storia bandiera lituana di oltre 100 anni e le antiche armature utilizzate nel corso degli anni dai valorosi cavalieri lituani, diverse foto, articoli e video riguardanti la storica Catena Baltica e dei plastici molto interessanti grazie a cui è possibile comprendere come fosse strutturata nel medioevo la città di Vilnius e come si sia evoluta negli anni con l’allargamento degli allora confini designati da palafitte in legno. L’ultimo piano corrisponde al tetto della torre da cui è possibile ammirare un panorama pressoché stupendo: da una parte si scorgono in lontananza i nuovi edifici, dalla parte opposta invece le vecchie chiese e case abbandonate. Come arrivare La Torre di Gediminas è raggiungibile a piedi o sfruttando la funicolare per il costo di 7 litas. E’ situata tra il parco Kalnai e la Cattedrale, quindi è il cuore della città vecchia. A piedi è possibile percorrere due percorsi, in entrambi i casi molto ripidi. La funicolare è invece situata alle spalle del colle, nel giardino del Taikomosios Dailes Muziejus: 10 secondi di viaggio e risparmierete energie

La torre Gediminas es lo único de queda del Castillo de Vilna. Ahoras es símbolo de la ciudad y del país. La torre está representada en la moneda local, el litas, y se menciona en poemas y canciones patrióticas. Se puede subir arriba del todo andando (esta bastante empinado) o en funicular. La vista de la ciudad desde lo alto es impresionante! La torre se puede visitar por dentro (previo pago), allí hay un museo arqueológico con los restos del entorno de la torre, también se puede subir arriba de la Torre y ver (aun mas alta) la vista de la ciudad. Corona la Torre la bandera de Lituania. Es el mejor punto de la ciudad para disfrutar de la ciudad de Vilna!

Esta torre es uno de los simbolos más representativos de la ciudad. Ubicada en el lo alto de un monte, desde arrba se puede contemplar toda la ciudad de Vilna; por un lado el casco antigüo con casas más bajitas y muchas catedrales y por otro la zona comercial donde los edificios son altos y acristalados. Se puede subir arriba de esta torre y ver las ruinas del castillo que esán próximas a el. Es una cuesta un poco empinada pero ¡no te arrepentirás! Visita obligada en una visita a esta ciudad

Vilnius fue fundada en esta colina de 48 metros de altura coronada desde el s.Xlll por una [poi=519601]torre[/poi] de ladrillo rojo. Para llegar a la cima de la colina se puede dar un paseo por unas escaleras que comienzan detrás de la catedral o bien elegir la opción del funicular que está en un pequeño patio al fondo del Museo de Artes Aplicadas, detrás de la cara norte de la Catedral. Las vistas desde la cima son de las más bonitas de la ciudad.

Vilnius was founded on this hill 48 meters high from the s.Xlll crowned by a red brick tower. La montaña sobre la cual está la torre está deshaciéndose, por eso no está tan bonita para verlo, pero verlo todo desde arriba merece la pena.
