Historic heart of San Diego
This area, one of the most important in San Diego, dates back to the mid-seventeenth century. Once a small city project attached to the Bay City, it has become one of the most picturesque and lively of all the districts. Covering the area between Harbor Drive and Broadway, and Fourth to Eighth avenues, it starts right in front of the Palace of Congresses where an arch welcomes us to the "historic heart of San Diego". It's really the perfect place to go for a stroll, with great bars and shops and picturesque streets and buildings. Everything is very well-preserved. By day, it's a quiet neighborhood, but at night it really comes alive.
