Garden of the Fisherman
This garden called Garden of the Fishermen is the smallest but the best preserved in Suzhou. It was designed in the twelfth century but was abandoned and later restored in the eighteenth century as part of the residence of a retired officer who liked fishing, hence its name. The main garden is in the centre. The east of the garden was originally a residential area. In the west, there is an interior garden courtyard. The best thing about this park is the use of space, characterized by a maze of courtyards and ingenious windows framing the different parts of the garden.
