Fuente Chrob

La fuente Chrob o Chouf, está cerca de la medersa y la mezquita de Ben Youssef. Estamos en el corazón de la antigua ciudad, fundada por los almorávides. Esta fuente se construyó en el siglo XVI, encargada por el rey Ahmed el Mansour. Es famosa porque tiene un marco de madera excepcional, esculpido con inscripciones en árabe, probablemente del Corán. Hay un techo de tejas verde, como en los edificios oficiales de la ciudad. Marrakech es la puerta del desierto, pero aún no tiene problemas con el agua. La fuente sigue operando y la gente del barrio acude para buscar agua de cocina, limpieza y para beber. Il est des monuments qui par leur discrétion n’attirent pas immédiatement le regard des passants. Cette fontaine a beau être classée au patrimoine mondiale de l’UNESCO, elle ne focalise pas l’attention tel que pourrait le faire la mosquée Ben Youssef ou les multiples boutiques du Souk à proximité. Ce qui distingue ce lieu d’un autre c’est son intégration inaltérée au cœur de la Médina, un point de passage pour les marrakchis d’hier et d’aujourd’hui. La Fontaine Chrob ou Chouf n’est pas simplement un monument, c’est surtout un lieu populaire où se mêlaient et se mêlent toujours toutes les générations de marocains. Plus qu’une représentation d’un monument, cette photo tente de témoigner de ces scènes de vie qui se déroulent quotidiennement face à cette fontaine…depuis maintenant quatre siècles.

Chrob n'Chouf signifie "Bois et regarde". La rue est étroite, et on manque de recul pour bien admirer la hauteur de cet édifice. Cette antique fontaine mériterait une petite restauration au niveau de la distribution de l'eau. Par contre, l'auvent qui la surmonte lui vaut le statut de monument historique. Le bois de cèdre est sculpté en une belle série de stalactites. Des inscriptions en calligraphie coufique y sont gravées.
