Border crossings
We left Switzerland through the Italian border, between Lake Como and Milan. The most surprising thing was that we initially thought that we were already in Italy, not knowing that Switzerland has an Italian speaking part, and I didn't really care for this region. We were surprised to pass a border check after driving for 30 minutes in what we thought was Italy. The driving for the day was almost over, and thank goodness because it was rush hour for the people ve work in Switzerland, but live in Italy, and it took some time to cross the border. They don't ask for passports or car documents at the border, but you still have to go slower in case they want to stop you for a more detailed check.
It's better to not cross the border from Italy to Switzerland in the morning and from Switzerland to Italy in the evening, to avoid the people ve work in another country. Because of the mountains, it becomes even worse if there is snow or rain. It took us half an hour to reach Milan from the border.
