Freedom Square

El epicentro del casco histórico de Garachico es la Plaza de la Libertad, anteriormente llamada de Santa Ana, de la Constitución, o del General Franco. Es una plaza de planta rectangular, rodeada de jardines y de los edificios más importantes de la villa: El [poi=80658]Ayuntamiento[/poi], la [poi=80672]iglesia de Ntra. Sra. De los Ángeles[/poi] (Museo de Historia y Ciencias Naturales), la [poi=80662]Casa de los Marqueses de la Quinta Roja[/poi], el [poi=80671]ex-convento de San Francisco[/poi] (Casa de Cultura), el [poi=80664]Palacio de los Condes de la Gomera[/poi] y la [poi=80674]Iglesia Matriz de Santa Ana[/poi]. En el centro hay un templete de música construido en madera a principios del siglo XX, y un bar que monta las mesas y sillas de su terraza en la plaza. Está pavimentada con escudos de bronce de los países bolivarianos, y en ella se erige el monumento a Simón Bolívar, obra de Juan Jaén Díaz. La plaza es escenario de múltiples eventos y ferias, como la de artesanías que iba a comenzar en los días siguientes a mi visita.

It is paved with bronze shields of the Bolivarian countries, and it stands the monument to Simon Bolivar, the work of Juan Jaen Diaz. The square is the scene of many events and fairs such as the craft that was to begin in the days following my visit.

Au centre-ville de Garachico, plongée dans la verdure, la Place de Liberté (Plaza de Libertad) est un endroit agréable pour faire une petite pause dans votre visite de la ville, jouir de la fraîcheur et sentir l’histoire séculaire qui vous entoure. Un petit café au milieu de la place offre un grand choix de boissons rafraîchissantes, mais ne manquez pas de goûter le café bien serré qui parfume toute la ville. Au fond de la place vous pourrez voir le monument de Simon Bolívar, héros de l’indépendance de l’Amérique Latine de l’Empire Espagnole qui a contribué à l’émancipation de Bolivie, Colombie, Ecuador,Pérou et Venezuela. Sa famille vivait à Garachico et c’est pour cela que la ville a honoré sa mémoire.

At the center of Garachico, immersed in greenery, the Freedom Square (Plaza Libertad) is a nice place to take a break in your tour of the city, enjoy the freshness and feel the ancient history that surrounds you . A small cafe in the middle of the site offers a large selection of soft drinks, but do not forget to taste the strong coffee flavor that the whole city. At the end of the square you can see the monument of Simon Bolivar, hero of the independence of Latin America from the Spanish Empire which contributed to the emancipation of Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru and Venezuela. His family lived in Tenerife and that is why the city has honored his memory.

El suelo de la plaza tiene escudos de los países bolivarianos, y un estilizado monumento a Simón Bolívar. Hay un templete de música y una terraza/bar donde podemos disfrutar de la historia de este pueblo

La Plaza de la Libertad de Garachico es popularmente conocida como la Plaza de Arriba. Si damos un paseo por el casco viejo de este pequeño pueblo llegaremos fácilmente a este punto, y podremos aprovechar para tomar un café en su quisco a la sombra de los ficus centenarios.
