Touring Fraser Island
Fraser Island is the largest sandy island in the world. In Australia, in Queensland, it was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1992. The way most people visit Fraser Island is to go on a trip in a 4x4 with others and visit the island over one to three days, camping in tents. There are also guided tours available. The temperature of the island during the day usually varies between 22 and 30 degrees depending on the time of year, but at night it can get cold. Fraser has over 100 natural freshwater lakes, vast beaches, the ruins of a sunken ship off its coast and rich vegetation. In fact it is the only place in the world where the forest vegetation growth extends onto the sand dunes which are over 200 metres high.
