Neptune Fountain

La fontaine de Neptune est situé à l'extrémité nord de la place Navone. Cette belle fontaine datant de 1576 met en scène le dieu Neptune qui lutte avec son trident contre une pieuvre et autres créatures mythologiques. Les ornements sculptés ont été ajouté au début du 19ème siècle, bien après la construction du bassin.

La fontaine de Neptune est une autre des œuvres d´art qui ornent la Piazza Navona de Rome. Il y a trois fontaines en tout sur la place, la principale, qui se trouve au centre, est la fontaine des quatre fleuves, un chef d´œuvre de Bernini. La fontaine de Neptune se trouve a l´extrémité de la place. Elle une forme d´étoile, et Neptune se trouve en son centre, armé de son triton il combat des animaux marins. Il y a des chevaux qui tentent de s´échapper du bassin. Neptune est le fils de Saturne. C´est le frère de Jupiter et de Pluton. Il fait partie des 12 grands dieux de l´Olympe. On le reconnait a sa barbe, son trident, et il est parfois représenté avec un dauphin ou nu poisson, ou alors entouré de tritons. Contrairement a la fontaine des quatre fleuve, la fontaine de Neptune n´est pas éclairée de nuit, c´est dommage car elle est superbe.
